Our Artists

We’ve been humbled to be around some of the most amazing artists out there. Some just emerging and making a name for themselves, some you know well. All in all, it’s made us who we are and we’re honored to know them, partner with them and bring them to our customers.

Centro-matic

For 15 years, Denton, TX-based band Centro-matic has been recording and releasing amazing records. Lots of them. And while with each album you hear a band that is pushing the boundaries of their craft, you can always count on them for an infectiously exuberant rock anthem to get stuck in your head for a week, or an atmosphere-drenched soundtrack for a late-night drive into the black. Either way, Centro-matic is one of the greatest working rock & roll bands in the country, and we’re honored to include them in our roster. + Read on

Daniel Hart

Daniel’s parents took him to his first violin lesson when he was three years old. He has been playing music ever since. Daniel has spent the past ten years writing music for films, commercials and his own band, while touring with and recording for Beck, St. Vincent, Broken Social Scene, Other Lives, The Rosebuds, John Vanderslice and countless other artists. He loves exploring new styles and taking on challenging projects.

((sounder))

((sounder)) is the music of Mike Aho, who splits his time as a visual artist, musician and video director. The current line-up features Jesse Lee and Tom Hoff (American Analog Set) and Travis Cooper. Aho has released 2 LP’s, 2 EP’s and a 7″ double single as ((sounder)) since 2007, all of which were produced by long-time friend/producer Matt Wignall (Cold War Kids, Mando Diao). Blazing the trail between Austin and Los Angeles, ((sounder)) has played in support of Mates of State, Olivia Tremor Control, Wooden Birds and many more.

Monahans

The journey of Monahans spans ten years, two bands, and five prior releases. Their two records and a compilation of recordings in 2010 have resulted in a catalog of landscape-inspired rock that has served a soundtrack for many ads, films and branded videos. Theirs is a sound that we can’t get enough of. Plus, these boys are just plain quality and we are humbled to be partnered with them. + Read on

Seth Woods

Seth Woods has been making music in Austin, Texas since 2003, both with his band Sad Accordions and on his own as The Whiskey Priest. Seth’s songs range from the hopefully melancholic to the joyfully defiant. Both Sad Accordions and The Whiskey Priest have been receiving rave reviews in the UK of late, thanks to UK based indie label Rainboot releasing their albums in 2010 and 2011. These days, when he’s not touring in England or recording, Seth splits his time between Texas and New Mexico.

Greg Vanderpool

Greg Vanderpool has been receiving critical praise for his work with his bands Monahans and Milton Mapes for the better part of a decade. His songs explore the spaces between stark, hazy drones, Sunday hymns and intensely rhythmic pop anthems. Vanderpool’s songs have been recorded by artists the likes of Robert Plant, and over the years have found their way into numerous films.

MC Taylor

We first met MC Taylor in San Francisco where he fronted The Court & Spark (one of our favorites). Taylor’s songs, lyrics, and his distinctive vocals are at the core of The Court & Spark’s mystic and phantasmal brand of laid back West Coast country hymn. With his new project Hiss Golden Messenger, Taylor’s songs are interwoven in spacey dub jams, echo chambers, primal beats, bare trees and the occasional sonic boom. Now based in Pittsboro, NC, he continues writing songs while working as a folklorist. photo: Terri Loewenthal

Will Johnson

That Will Johnson is a powerful and prolific songwriter is not up for debate. Over the past eight years, Will has proven himself a veritable magnet for critical and peer affection; the words “cult following” tend to hover near any description of either his folk-pop juggernaut, Centro-matic, or its gray-skied cousin, South San Gabriel. Johnson is the author of a staggering 10 full-length albums between those two bands and his solo project, and each is a unique statement.

Scott Hirsch

Scott Hirsch makes music from the future. Only, the future is the early 1970s. Scott uses the moniker “Dunedin Dunedin,” under which his sonic palate is populated with sunbaked analog tones and resonant echos. These songs will take you on a journey from the Autobahn to the American desert, by way of the glowing tubes of a Jamaican Soundsystem.

Jeff Ryan

Instrumentalist Jeff Ryan (St. Vincent, The New Year, Sarah Jaffe, Pleasant Grove, Crushed Stars) creates lush, beautiful music under the name Myopic. Working with acclaimed engineer Stuart Sikes (Cat Power, Modest Mouse, White Stripes, Califone), he released the EP “Plays in Pieces” to much critical praise. He is currently at work on his much anticipated follow up!

Britton Beisenherz

Britton Beisenherz has been developing his career in music for nearly 20 years, lending his talents as an accomplished musician, producer and engineer on countless albums. Britton graduated from Berklee School of Music (Boston, MA) in 1998 with a focus on Music Technology, Synthesis and Sound Design. In 2001, Britton founded Ramble Creek Recording Studio where he continues to work with some of the best emerging bands in Texas and beyond. We’re glad he’s a friend of ours. We hope you will be too.

Roberto Sanchez

When Rob was a kid, his parents bought him a used orange sparkle Majestic drum kit and his dad showed him how to play A Day in the Life by The Beatles. Sanchez now works as a professional drummer/multi-instrumentalist, composer and freelance musician based in Austin, Texas. He likes old Ludwigs, bikes and Stevie Nicks.

Joshua Zarbo

Joshua Zarbo is a professional bassist, music educator and composer. Since moving to Texas in the mid-90’s he has been cultivating an eclectic music career, both as a band member and a session musician. His studio work includes record releases by Spoon, Monahans, Bob Schneider, and Kat Edmonson. Joshua’s live performance and touring includes stints with Spoon, Monahans, John Vanderslice, Jon Dee Graham, The Soul Stirrers, and Dale Watson.
